Bahama Swallow, Mockingbird, Woodstar Hummingbird or Oriole all make Andros the year round home. The resident Great Lizard Cuckoo, Red Legged Thrush, Greater Antillean Night Hawk, Migrant Black Whiskered, Thick Billed, and White Eyed Vireos, Reddish Egrets and American Oyster Catchers.

Samuel Nelson, a teacher by profession has been a bird enthusiast from a tender age growing up in Jamaica. He presently works with the Ministry of Education as a Special Education/Resource Room Teacher and has used bird themes on numerous occasion to teach students to read, comprehend and compute numbers through interaction with the outside environment. He is married to Dahllia with a six year old daughter, his personal bird spotter.

Nelson’s exuberant nature and knowledge of the environment makes a day in the field an enjoyable experience for young and old.
